Harris County Texas Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Make a Plan.
Regardless of where you live, you may face an act of terrorism, rain, wind and water risks. Prior to any emergencies, determine what those risks may be. Even if you do not live in a flood zone, your home may be susceptible to flooding. Figure out what you may need to do to secure your home to the best of your abilities.
Do you live in an evacuation zone? If so, think about where you might go in case of an evacuation. Do you have friends or family nearby that you could stay with in case of an evacuation. If not, will you go to a shelter? Think about these options before an emergency occurs so that you are better prepared to get on the road in case of an evacuation.
Do you live outside of an evacuation zone? If so, invite friends or family members that may need to evacuate to stay in your home with you.
Lastly, if you have any condition, healthcare need, or situation that would require additional assistance during an emergency, make sure to register online for the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry or Call 2-1-1.
