Medical Care and Disasters

During a disaster, those experiencing an existing medical condition may need medical care. If you are a person that may be experiencing an existing medical condition, you will need to prepare in advance. Remember to gather all supplies you may need and make sure you have enough to last for 2 weeks. These supplies include, medicine, syringes, batteries for a device, a first aid kit that contains bandages, disinfectant, scissors, tape, tweezers, antibiotic ointment, and a first aid manual. Remember that you should have copies of your medical information and your physician contact information in your evacuation kit in the event you need to evacuate. If you are injured and need immediate medical attention, be aware that medical care may look different than before due to COVID-19. This could mean additional screenings or alternate locations.
